So, a couple very trustingly, after seeing my portfolio, hired me to be their photographer at their wedding.\u00a0 I\u2019m not going to lie, it was a scary proposition.\u00a0 Having someone\u2019s special day in the palm of my hands, quite literally and relying on me to capture their special day!<\/p>\n

Now don\u2019t get me wrong, I\u2019d done a few corporate events, so knew how to be invisible\u2026 but this was going to be something else!<\/p>\n

In preparation I did the sensible thing and took myself back to basics and went on a course \u2018Getting Started<\/a>\u2019 ran by the Nikon School (extremely good btw).\u00a0 It really put me back in the mind of what I could do with the camera and what my limitations were without some of the equipment I literally couldn\u2019t afford to get\u2026<\/p>\n

I guess I\u2019m writing this blog for anyone out there who wants to do the same thing, but also to prove that if you have the trust and confidence in yourself to deliver and put 100% into it, then you will achieve.\u00a0 I\u2019m not going to lie, I was extremely nervous, but I did my research, talked to the couple about what they were expecting from me (I wanted a list), and practise, practise, practise\u2026.<\/p>\n

The day turned out to be pretty chilled.\u00a0 For me, it felt like a proper \u2018East-End Knees-Up\u2019.\u00a0 The wedding was held in Tower Hamlets Register Office<\/a> and then moved onto The Duke of Somerset<\/a> pub in London E1.\u00a0 It couldn\u2019t have been a better first wedding to photograph.\u00a0 The venue was bright and spacious with plenty of opportunities to catch moments, the outside space great to capture the \u2018formal\u2019 shots and the pub, again, spacious for me to move around and get candid shots.<\/p>\n

The wedding party couldn\u2019t believe it was my first wedding, after bossing everyone about into the right positions for the family shots, and the wedding \u2018full-party\u2019 shots.\u00a0 (Including wrangling of a photo-bombing child!!).\u00a0 I had some great feedback and wonderful praise.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t wait to do more with this, it\u2019s an exciting new challenge and I\u2019m ready for it.<\/p>\n
